Filo del Tallo

Filo del Tallo

Size: 277 ha in total, 198 ha reforestation area

Starting year: 2023

Short description: This project is named after the bordering Filo del Tallo Hydrological Reserve.

Located in the heart of Darién, the Filo del Tallo Hydrological Reserve is a critical water source for numerous surrounding communities. Despite its importance, the reserve has faced repeated threats of deforestation. Our project area borders the reserve directly, enabling us to extend and reinforce its ecological integrity through native reforestation.

By restoring adjacent lands that were previously cleared for cattle ranching, we are enhancing the buffer zone around this vital water source. The region’s fertile soils and optimal growing conditions make it especially suitable for high-impact reforestation, as confirmed by the strong early results from our 2023 plantings.

Filo del Tallo is currently available as a Corporate Carbon Concession, with several hundred hectares ready to begin reforestation. The project not only contributes to climate mitigation but also safeguards water security and supports biodiversity in one of Panama’s most ecologically sensitive regions.
